There's nothing quite like exploring your own home. Staycations are incredibly popular here in Australia, so we thought we'd focus on the east coast as the first destination in our Wanderlust Series. From Kirra to Yamba, Burleigh to Byron Bay... We've rounded up our favourite spots along the east coast which inspired the collection of customised cushions below.

Kirra and Coolangatta are the perfect destinations for any avid surfer in Australia. Home to the famous Snapper Rocks, pros and beginnings alike try their hand surfing the perfect waves here. The towns almost blend into one, with fantastic acres and restaurants alined along the beachfront. If surfing isn’t your thing, relax on Greenmount Beach or explore the coastal walks which are nearby. Kirra and Coolangatta offer an idyllic spot for families looking to escape city life too, with endless outdoor possibilities for children.
We’re lucky enough to call Currumbin and Palm Beach home. A particularly special stretch of sand, with old-school beach shacks lined along the road side behind. Caffeine lovers won’t be disappointed by the endless cafes on offer serving the finest cups of coffee on the Gold Coast. Our particular favourite is Barefoot Barista in Palm Beach for long Sunday brunches. Further south sits sleep Currumbin, a small town with a stunning surf beach and estuary. This is a great spot for swimming in the Currumbin Creek and wandering along the river banks. Don’t miss sunset in Currumbin and Palm Beach, it’s a view which never gets old and inspired our collection of cushions below.
The partying mecca of Australia, Surfer’s Paradise draws in a young crowd with endless clubs, bars and shopping malls to choose from. The long stretch of beach serves as the perfect hangover remedy in summer, before it starts all over again. If you’re in search of a dance floor whilst on the Gold Coast, then Surfer’s Paradise is definitely for you.
Byron Bay welcomes a mix of bohemians, surfers and hippies alike. It has a strong backpacker vibe which can make it a transient place at times with so many people travelling through, but it definitely has a unique atmosphere like anywhere else in Australia. Try out reiki, refine your yoga practice, join a raw vegan cooking class and surf perfect peelers at The Pass. Byron Bay is undeniably beautiful, with it's sweeping main beach, bustling wide streets and stunning, vast views from the lighthouse perched on Cape Byron’s hill top.
Beautiful Burleigh is as laid back as surfer towns come. It has a relaxed retro vibe with plenty of quirky cafes and coffee shops to try out. Add the stylish interior stores and vintage boutiques, and you have the perfect destination for any young hipster. Burleigh is also a hot spot for families, with a tight-knit community of locals and travellers. And of course, it draws in plenty of surfers from around the world with its famous right-hand point break which peels off of the rocks with the pine trees behind.
The quaint fishing town of Yamba has a lovely bohemian lifestyle, beautifully raw beaches, and a variety of cafes and restaurants serving wholesome, home grown goodness. Yamba is the perfect place to visit for a long weekend, whether you ramble along the coastal paths, bush walk in Yuraygir National Park, kayak on the Clarence River, surf one of the hidden breaks or watch the waves from one of the clifftop pubs with a chilled glass of wine in hand.

Cushions are a great way to liven up a room without blowing your budget. From beautiful beach prints to your favourite sunset shot, the possibilities are endless when creating your customised cushion. We’ve included a selection of styles below to give you inspiration, and top tips on how to choose the right cushion for your room.
Life is better at the beach. Life is even better when you bring the beach home with you. And no we’re not referring to piles of sand on the living room floor. We’re big fans of our favourite beach scenes printed onto cushions, a constant reminder of long sunny days spent with family and friends. Living in Australia we’re extremely fortunate to have many wonderful beaches just a short walk or drive from our home. Here are a few of our favourites…
Nothing beats a photo of a spectacular sunset, especially if it’s one you’ve experienced for yourself. Here at Pacific Pillow Co., we love transforming spaces with sunset print cushions. Over the years we’ve collected our fair share of sunset photos, which all look great when customised on a cushion. There’s something fun about filling an empty space with pops of pink, yellow and orange.
What better way to remember that incredible holiday to your favourite tropical paradise, than with a printed cushion that sits proudly in your home. As well as stocking many cushions with tropical scenes, we thought we’d have a little fun by creating pop art style prints like below. A fan of Flamingoes? You’re in luck! Or perhaps the pineapple ones are more your flavour. Take your pick.
We may be in the middle of Australian winter, but that doesn’t mean you can’t bring a little nature indoors. Customised cushions look good paired with others, so try matching a palm tree print with a floral print, or a grass print with a cloud print to liven up an empty space. Take a look at a few ideas below…
There’s no better way to completely personalise a room than with a customised cushion (or two). Choose your most treasured family photograph, or that quote which always inspires you, or that adorable picture of your dog.
Whatever your preference in style and design, customised cushions are a great, unique way of adding personality to that space you’ve wanted to spruce up for a while. Hi there followers of Pacific Pillow Co.
Just thought I had better get the blog up and running so thought it apropriate to mention the latest exciting Pacific Pillow Co project we have just completed.
A couple of months ago super talented interior designer spotted our cushions and prints at The Brisbane Young Designers market at South Bank (first Sunday of every month) and asked us to work on the refurbishment of several rooms in an apartment block in the Brisbane CBD.
A few days later, cushions, prints and throws of all shapes and sizes were delivered much to the delight of the owners.
People in the corridors were asking where they could get the cushions and prints before they even got into the rooms and the end result is a lot of very happy customers in a lot of very beautiful, vibrant and unique looking rooms.
Our thanks to Trudy who was brilliant to work with and Liz and I are looking forward to the next Pacific Pillow Co interior design project.
It just goes to show that with a good imagination some truly spectacular images can quickly come to life and transform interiors from homes, hotels, functions and events at minimal cost.
